Trips
Yes, we know, trips are really part of “Services”, but we get so many inquiries about our trips that we decided to gather all that information in one easy-to-find location.
Please pay careful attention to the policies and regulations listed here; every paragraph has proven itself relevant at one time or another! By registering for our trips you pledge to abide fully by our rules.
At the bottom of the page, you will find the particulars of each month’s trips. Please check all details before you go. Enjoy!
All About 2G Trips
Please be aware that the Senior Center also arranges trips — make sure you know which department you are dealing with!
GENERAL
- The success of a trip is entirely dependent on maintaining a pleasant atmosphere, with everyone co-operating in a spirit of mutual consideration!
- Participation in any group activity (such as a trip) means that the needs and safety of the group always take precedence over the wishes of the individual! While we recognize that, at times, this might create a conflict of desires, the group regulations must always prevail. We ask that all participants respect and co-operate fully with this policy
- Consequently, all instructions by the staff must be followed!
- Some trips may involve a lot of walking; before signing up, discuss with a staff person whether the trip is right for you
- Unless noted otherwise (which is rare), you will need to bring your own food/snacks/drinks. Whenever feasible, we provide the opportunity to buy coffee/tea, in which case we provide Chalav Yisroel milk
- Shopping carts, strollers, and the like, are not admitted. Walkers/rollators, provided they fold flat, are admitted only if noted on the “Trips of the Month” information page (in the Newsletter)
- Personal effects should be kept to a minimum: bring only what can comfortably fit on your lap!
- Husbands (who are registered Club 2G members) are welcome – even encouraged! – to join their wives on trips
REGISTRATION & CANCELATION
- Payment must be made together with the registration, which takes place at the Front Desk in the Y Lobby, either in person or by phone 718-438-5921. All registrations and payments must be finalized no later than the day before the trip (unless you are on stand-by — see below)
- Please keep track of your bookings — under normal circumstances you will not receive any reminders
- Registration fees are only refundable until 24 hours in advance of the trip
- If the trip is canceled by the administration you will obviously get your money back
- Your registration is non-transferable – if you need to cancel, you cannot “sell” or “give away” your reservation to a friend! When you cancel, your reservation automatically reverts to the administration, which will reassign it according to a waiting list. Anyone who “obtained” a reservation any other way will not be admitted.
Our Trip POLICIES
For everybody’s safety and comfort, please note the following:
WAITING LIST / STAND-BY
- Once a trip has been filled to capacity, you may contact the Club 2G office and ask to be placed on a waiting list
- If a spot becomes available in advance we will let you know; however, most of the time we won’t know until the moment of boarding the bus. Therefore, being on the waiting list usually means being on stand-by
- If you are on stand-by: be in the Y lobby 15 minutes before departure time; have the trip fee ready in exact change, and be prepared to get lucky! Obviously there is a risk that you won’t be able to go, but very often it pays to take a chance.
PUNCTUALITY - Times listed on the Calendar are departure times; please gather in the lobby no later than 15 minutes in advance, when we begin boarding the bus
- Departure times are exact – please be punctual; we do not wait for latecomers
- If you arrive at the Y later than 5 minutes before departure, you run the risk of losing your seat to some-one from the waiting list. Once you have lost your seat you will not get it back
- Throughout the trip, be very mindful of projected departure times – the bus will not wait for latecomers. Please listen carefully to all announcements
- While we always strive to keep the trip within the projected time frame, there can be unforeseen circumstances, such as very heavy traffic. Therefore, don’t schedule important appointments on the day of a trip
SAFETY & RESPONSIBILITY - For reasons of safety each person is required to take along a functioning, fully charged cell phone on trips. The number must be given to us when you register. If you don’t have your phone with you, you will not be allowed to go on the trip
- No-one is allowed to leave the group / trip venue for any reason
- If you wish to return home by your own means, you must inform a staff person, and sign off on the attendance sheet
ON THE BUS - The boarding of the bus goes in the order of registration
- As you board the bus, you may choose any seat you want (except reserved staff seating); however, you may not reserve seats for anybody else
- This chosen seat remains yours for the return trip as well
- The bus will not make any drop-off stops on the way back to the Y
